Fiat Ducato review

Fiat-Ducato.jpgThis all-new vehicle has new styling, new engines, a vastly expanded line-up covering the weight range from 2.8-4.0t and is offered with a 17m3 loadspace option, up from 14m3.

There are three wheelbases, four overall lengths, three roof heights and seven interior volume options. The interior loading length is extended by 710mm to a maximum 4,100mm and the width between the wheelarches is 1,422mm.

Power comes from three new engines. Lowest powered is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel while at the top end, all versions use Sofim's 3.0-litre engine at 157hp.

The interior cab layout cranks things up another level. it's a welcoming environment with plenty of storage space. The gearshift is located on the dash and the instrument panel is clear and well arranged, while the fit and finish, suspect in the previous model, has been vastly improved.

Get one on demo, get all the backup and warranty assurance you can from the dealer, then buy one. This van is going to be popular.

Mark Booth:

Hi,

Just to let you know, I took delivery of my Ducato LWB Hi-Top 120 from Vans Direct on 10th Sept only to find it had no spare wheel, just a fix and go kit. Vans direct salesman said he wasn't aware it didn't come with a spare, my local Fiat dealer has contacted Fiat to try and get me one but they can't get a reply from Fiat. They told me this was a common problem as they can only contact Fiat by fax (what is the point of signing up more dealers in a network if they will not communicate with them?)

My van is a delivery van. It has reversing camera, blu&me 4x electric heated mirrors, air con cooled glove box and lots more except a spare wheel.

I contacted Fiat customer services two weeks ago to ask for help in resolving this matter and again today, they are again looking into it and will get back to me, which is just what they told me last time.

My point is how can you put every conceivable extra in a van but then remove the most important thing like a spare wheel. I am delivering in rural areas anything up to 10pm some of which have no mobile signal, if I have a puncture that can not be repaired with the fix and go kit I am stuffed!!

I have many brochures from Fiat, read many reports on the internet and have gone through all of the relevant information on the Ducato on Fiats website, I found nothing about a fix & go kit and nothing to suggest that the vans do not come with a spare wheel. If they are not going to fit them as standard they must warn people as this could potentially loose them a lot of time and money.

This maybe something to interest your readers.

Kind regards, Mark Booth.
P.S. None of the email addresses on Fiatprofessional website work.

We've been selling van acessories for the latest model Ducato since it was launched and have had fantastic feedback regarding this great workhorse! Most of our customers using this van think it's even better all-round value than the Mk7 Transit!
