Breathing and bonding mineral paints now in Britain

beeck.jpg
Beeck's range of active silicate paints and treatments for plaster and masonry surfaces is now available in the UK.
The paints integrate chemically with a building's materials, creating a permeable, self-cleaning surface that will breathe with the base material: plaster, render, stone, brick or concrete. As the paints are permeable, the manufacturer says that they will not bubble, crack or peel.
Over 300 light-fast colours are available. The Beeck Colorsil range includes the primary colours and more than a hundred intermediate hues, while Beeck Antik is a selection of matt, light-fast colours suitable for use in historic restoration work.
Because they form a crystalline surface, the paints are repellent to surface water, algae and fungi, and have a zero surface spread of flame rating.
Like the company's entire range of surfacing products, its active silicate paints are made from natural ingredients and are environmentally safe. The are among the few genuinely pure masonry paints.

Waterproofing membrane: a long lasting quick fix

VEERE.jpg Established in Europe for 40 years, Marley Waterproofing has introduced its Uniply pvc roofing membrane into the UK.
The membrane features a polyester reinforcement that provides excellent mechanical properties and performance characteristics, the company claims. This allows for wider rolls and reduces the number of fixings, which should help achieve a rapid and simple installation.
The reinforcement mesh is extremely flat, which means that the lower polymer layer will also be flat and evenly distributed. It is protected by a uv-stabilised layer of pvc, prolonging the service life of the membrane.
Uniply pvc will form a clear, uniform finish on all types of flat roof, whether mechanically secured or fully adhered. It is also suitable for podium roofs and terraces.

Automatic smoke and heat ventilation added to windows

Senkklapp-Element-K2.jpg Schuco's ASW window system has been improved by the addition of a range of certified SHEVS (smoke and heat exhaust ventilation system) products.
The range includes a choice of inward and outward opening SHEVS windows for vertical facades and skylights. Schuco claims that no other company offer these options.
SHEVS technology is designed to evacuate smoke and heat from a building, while the occupants escape. When combined with temperature of carbon dioxide sensors, the same AWS windows may also be used for natural ventilation or internal climate control.
The opening types available in the range comprise inward opening bottom hung, inward opening side hing, outward opening top hung, outward opening side hung and outward opening roof vent.
