SED 2008 launches Builders Box Live

Builders-Box-Live.jpgSED, the national show for construction, is launching a brand new event at the 2008 show, which takes place from 13-15 May at Rockingham Motor Speedway, Corby, Northamptonshire. Builders Box Live is a show within a show aimed at the small professional builder and trade professional.

Key industry associations supporting Builders Box Live include the HAE (Hire Association Europe), CIWM (Chartered Institute of Waste Management), FMB (Federation of Master Builders) and the DSA (Drilling and Sawing Association).

Builders Box Live will provide a ‘One Stop’ shop where visitors can experience a hands-on event in its own dedicated pavilion. The new 2-storey undercover exhibition area will be the biggest non-permanent ridged structure built at SED, standing a massive 60ft high, complete with its own mezzanine restaurant.

Designed with the ‘end user’ in mind the event will accommodate suppliers of all essential building products and services. There is also an innovation zone planned, highlighting pioneering ideas visitors won't have seen before, and an abundance of live demonstrations of kit and techniques. Builders Box Live will be the essential tool kit for the UK’s local builders.

Ralph Collett, business development manager, from Builders Box Live, said: “Builders Box Live at SED offers manufactures and suppliers a major opportunity to sell and promote to the professional builder and wider construction community with the thousands of visitors expected. With the early support from leading companies and associations helping produce the demonstration programme the show will offer visitors a dynamic and vibrant feel for the three show days."

Other show features will include the Builders Box Challenge where visitors can demonstrate their ability and skill in this live competition. Suppliers will also be able to enter the Safety Awards Zone, where visitors will judge the winners. This Zone will also include an open seminar area where a series of health and safety seminars will run.

Waste management is becoming one of the hottest topics facing the construction industry and the CIWM is ideally placed to advise on the opportunities and challenges this presents. The CIWM will be using the event as a platform to inform the construction industry on the emerging importance of construction waste.

“Through a strategic one-day conference taking place at Builders Box Live, delegates will benefit from information on a range of topics including the hottest current theme of compulsory site waste management plans,” reported Harvey Sugden, business development manager of The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM).

The HAE is the leading trade association for tool & equipment hirers, the company is looking forward to its partnership with SED’s Builders Box Live Liz Coombes, head of marketing at the Hire Association Europe. said, “This show provides the perfect opportunity for the Hire industry to showcase its products and services to the thousands of visitors from both within the hire sector and also to those end user visitors from the Construction world. This is an important event where our industry can demonstrate the concept and real benefit of Hire to all."

With over 13,000 members, the FMB (Federation of Master Housebuilders) is the largest trade association in the UK building industry. The FMB offers members professional advice and business building services to save them time and money.

Robin Hood-Leeder, FMB’s director of member services, reported that the FMB is delighted to be taking a stand at the Builders Box Live event. “The show promises to provide visitors with plenty of opportunities to see many of the new products up close and to try out some of the latest tools and equipment,“ he said.

“It is designed to attract the small and medium-sized builders, which is the sector of the industry that we want to meet with. As well as encouraging visitors to enter for the FMB Master Builder of the Year awards, the show will provide an excellent opportunity for the FMB to encourage more builders and specialist tradespeople to join the FMB.”

Builders Box Live is supported by www.buildersbox.co.uk, which was launched in July of this year and is the leading website for the small professional building providing need to know information, from the latest products and equipment, to advice on legal and financial matters. The site is quickly becoming the online community for local builders and trades, and a natural launch pad for an event dedicated to this busy sector.
