£140m in training grants available for builders

There’s a record £140m pot available this year for construction employers who want to apply for training grants.

The CITB-ConstructionSkills grants are available from 1 August 2007. Last year, £113m was distributed to over 20,000 builders.

Builders who have a Training & Development Plan in place can not only claim grants for training in craft skills, but also in business areas such as IT, accountancy, and administration.

The increase in grant funding for apprentices has been increased significantly this year, after the government said it wanted more young people to continue in training and education to the age of 18.
