Emergency tool for your wallet

Toolkit.gif
Ever been 'caught short'? No, not in that way, I mean caught without a tool on you. Well, if you have, there is a whole world of small credit card sized tool kits which could help you out. BuildersBox has found what it thinks is the best, the Tool Logic range of slim card multi-tools.

Available from a variety of British retailers, the US company supplies emergency kits for use when stuck in a car in a dark wood in the middle of nowhere with strange noises all around you. A handy LED light will help you to navigate the darkness and the knives will assist you in warding off the enormous grizzly bears that will want to have you for dinner.

Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire!

Giant-Match.gif
One of the oddities that the internet has thrown up recently has been a fascination with all things oversized. Firstly, and most famously, it was biscuits and snacks. Now, BuildersBox has discovered how to make a giant match through a posting on the 'Instructables' website. All that needs to be made now is a giant cigarette, or even better, a cigar. If you find one of those or have made it yourself, email BuildersBox and we will put it up on the site.

It's all in the game...

Blockgame.gif
"Don't work, play games" urges the tagline for online gaming site www.freeloader.com. BuildersBox obviously doesn't condone timewasting on company time. However, it's vital to keep up with the latest developments, so you'll have to check out the industry recruitment drive from ConstructionSkills.

In an effort to encourage young people to enter construction, the organisation is providing free games on a number of teen websites. But lets not worry about definitions like 'teens' and 'adults', after all, you all have PS2s don't you? Exactly, so go and play this game.

How not to build

Accident.gifThere are plenty of numpties out there who can't construct a single thing. Then there are those who try to, but fail, and then hurt themselves in amusing ways. Luckily for you, the building experts out there, some people have filmed the comical results for your enjoyment.

All BuildersBox can say is, oh dear, oh dear. And, if you have got any similar videos, please, please send them in.

Rob the Builder, can he fix it?

Bob.gif
Undoubtedly you will have heard about the 'dodgy' penalty given to Chelsea against Liverpool last weekend. But did you know that Rob Styles, the ref for the game, apparently laid Roman Abramovich's driveway?

The Sun broke the story at the beginning of the week, later claiming that Liverpool fans were posting on the internet song lyrics such as 'Rob the Builder, can he fix it? Rob the Builder, yes he can.'

Although any inference of match fixing is played down by the Sun, the suggestion is clear for all to see. The only problem with the story is that Styles sits on the board of the company that was sub-contracted to pave the driveway, Oakwood Groundworks. So he didn't really pave the driveway at all.

Those people that BuildersBox genuinely feels sorry for are the actual builders who did have to pave the driveway. No doubt they are getting constant harrassment from annoyed Liverpool fans.

Clothing that'll get you hot under the collar

Scruffs.gif
Now this is, ahem, pretty saucy.

I'm sure that most building sites are normally quite run-of-the-mill affairs, where conversation revolves around football results and the latest reality TV show gossip. But according to Scruffs workwear video, they are places of intense sexual activity.

Although the advert is for clothes to wear at work, the boys (and girl) in the video are all to keen to whip the kit off as quickly as possible. It seems to work particularly well at this function.

So, tell BuildersBox, is your site as exciting as this?

For the kids: Comic construction

Howtoons.gif
Comic book geeks and construction don't normally go hand in hand. But howtoons.com gives kids a head start on the road towards a career in construction. Well, sort of. Some dudes with a love of creating stuff have come up with an interesting way to get kids attention and get them away from their beloved video game consoles: a how-to-build guide through the art of comics.

Most of you probably bang on to your children about the joys of making things with Mechano and Lego, but this generation's square-eyed internet-savvy kids will have none of that. But they may well respond to howtoons.com with its odd mix of comic strips and hands-on activities; a kind of Manga inspired Blue Peter for the noughties.

Timbers! Mobile phone made from wood

Wooden-mobile.gifApparently this is not a joke, and it actually does work.

Russians are not always renowned for their environmentally friendly credentials, what with them being one of the largest exporters of fossil fuel and all those Abramovich-owned industries. But this odd product defies the oil, or plastic in this case. Although if the wooden phone did become popular it might mean that quite a few trees could be felled.

BuildersBox biggest concern is about fire and water. What if it got wet, or if it caught fire? Well, that would be the end of it probably. Which really would be annoying, because the product is handmade and quite possibly pretty expensive.

The person who posted the photos seems to think that the idea will take off, and that mainstream manufacturers will start making mobiles out of wood too. What do you think?

Cheeky White Van Wit for Charity

White-Van-Man.gif
Most of you geezers would probably classify yourselves as a White Van Man. Well, if you are, then the White Van Wit joke book from Wickes will summarise your humour to a tee. Who knows, it might even have jokes in it that you thought you made up! The first page signals at what is to come; a muddy white van with 'I wish my wife was as dirty as this' fingered onto the side.

So, if you find jokes like, 'My dog is great at metalwork: I kicked it up the backside and he made a bolt for the door' or 'What do you call a sleeping bull: a bulldozer', sidesplittingly hilarious, then this book is right up your alley.

Even better, it is being sold in aid of Leukaemia Research.

There may be some jokes missing from the book which you feel that it should have had in it. If that is the case, please send them to BuildersBox!
