    The best builder's cafe

DaddyO recently posted a photo of what he considered to be a great caff with a great cuppa hot chocolate. This got me to thinking about the best cafes in the country for builders, truckers, farmers and your average joe bloggs.

I have been in a number of caffs which I consider to be excellent, for example there is a superb one in the northern district of Manchester which is well-used by builders and truckers. But what is it exactly that makes a great cafe? The atmosphere? The food? A well-made cuppa? I think that a combination of the three is important.

Since it was right next door to a builders' yard, my money would have to be on Cafe Rene (remember?) from Allo, Allo!

Sema's Cafe on Stanstead Road, Forest Hill. Right by the station. Best breakfasts in south London.

And a rather tasty Polish waitress has just started working there... Stick out tongue

Unfortunately it's been closed for a while for refurbishment - bloody builders... Wink

Don't know any builder's cafe, but there is a decent Chinese restaurant in Croydon which is highly recommended.

    Tai Tung Chinese Restaurant
Unit 1 & 1A Wing Yip Centre, 544 Purley Way
    Croydon, CR0 4RF

Probably the largest and certainly the busiest Chinese restaurant in the Croydon area. Within the Wing Yip Centre, a visit to the restaurant gives you the opportunity to shop in the most amazing Chinese supermarket/cash and carry. Offering a selection of over 30 dim sum dishes every day, the comprehensive menu offers truly genuine Chinese food and is immensely popular with the local Chinese and Japanese population as well as local residents and those who travel to dine here. A perfect party venue.
